What to forward
Flights · Stays · Transfers · Tickets
Booking confirmations, as they arrive: the airline's e-ticket, the hotel reservation, the rental-car voucher, the museum admission. Forward the whole message. Stub reads the segments out of it the same way pasting the text into a trip does. There is nothing to install and no mailbox to connect.
Anything that is not a booking — a newsletter, a receipt, a fare alert — is read and produces nothing. You do not get a “could not read this” item cluttering the list.
What happens next
The booking lands in the band at the top of your trips, with the trips whose dates it overlaps offered first. Filing it is one tap.
Stub does not pick the trip for you. Matching a booking to a trip off free text is a guess, and a wrongly-filed booking is worse than an unfiled one.
Anything the extractor was unsure about is flagged on the card rather than assumed. Forward the same confirmation twice and you get one item, updated.
Automatic forwarding
In Gmail: Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses → Create a new filter, match the senders your bookings come from, and choose Forward it to your address above.
Gmail's own verification comes first, and it is separate from the confirmation link Stub sends when you add an address below. Gmail mails a code to the forwarding address — which means the code arrives in Stub, not in your inbox. Add the address under Forwarding and POP/IMAP, then watch for the code in the unfiled band.
One caveat before you rely on it. Some providers refuse to auto-forward messages whose sender publishes a strict DMARC policy, and they fail silently. If a rule seems to be doing nothing, check the LAST RECEIVED line above. It answers whether anything arrived at all. Forwarding by hand always works.
What the address is
It is random and unguessable, which is what stops someone spraying addresses until one sticks. But it is not a secret. It travels in the To: header of every message sent to it, in mail logs, and in your own Sent folder.
So it is built to survive being learned. Nothing sent to it can read a trip, delete anything, or reach your account. Nothing binds itself to a trip without you. Every item records who forwarded it, and marks the sender when it doesn't match one of the addresses you've verified — the one you sign in with, plus any others you've confirmed. You can regenerate it at any time, which retires the old one permanently.
Mail from someone else is still accepted. A partner or an agent booking on your behalf is expected, not an attack. It is shown to you with the sender attached so the judgement stays yours.
